About me

Scott Ravede made his debut on the 3 rd planet from the sun in a small fishing village called Shawmut (now known as Boston, Massachusetts), but currently resides in the mythical city of Deltona in the legendary state of Florida with his wife Lorna, having survived 3 hurricanes (Andrew, Charlie and Irma) along the way. His daughter, Rivka, illustrates the books in his “Kid’s Work Cookbook” series of children’s books when she is not touring with her band, “Spirit of The Beehive.” His son Ethan is an accountant but does not do his taxes. Scott received a BS degree in Biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and got his medical degree from what’s currently known as Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine of Nova Southeastern University (or KPCOM for short). After medical school, he considered adding more degrees, but he lives in Florida and it’s hot enough as it is. He has been working in the emergency room for the past 24 years where he does all his non-fiction work. The rest of his writing is done when he is not playing doctor, and in addition to children’s books, includes a full-length play called “Mixed Singles” and several short stories and a novel in progress. When he’s not writing, he is enjoying several pursuits including wind-surfing, skiing and scavenger hunting for state and city welcome signs, as well as state capitols (it’s a photography project). Scott recognized a gaping absence in the children’s book industry of stories with tongue-twisting word play with endings with a twist without a message, and set out on a mission to fill this hole. The Kid’s Word Cookbook series is the result.
